    Types of Grass Seeds We Carry

     

    St. Matthews Sunny Blend Plus

    • Our turf type tall fescue blend includes 5% Bluegrass
    • Excellent for areas with afternoon sun
    • Drought and heat tolerant
    • Good for high-traffic areas

     

    St. Matthews Shady Blend Plus

    • Our shade tolerant blend is a mix of shade loving fescues (Creeping Red / Chewing) & tall turf type fescues
    • Excellent for shady areas or areas with only morning sun

     

    Falcon V

    • Excellent tall fescue for full afternoon sun to part sun (at least 6 hours of sun)
    • Good for high traffic areas
    • Drought and disease resistant

     

    Crossfire III

    • Turf type tall fescue
    •  Excellent in full sun to part sun (not less than 6 hours)
    • This fescue is slow growing; Extreme drought tolerance

     

    Kentucky 31

    • Wide bladed tall fescue
    • Excellent for sun or medium shade
    • Very durable

     

    Contractor’s Mix

    • Blend of Fescues – 75% ; Annual rye – 25%
    •  Good in full sun to part sun
    • Durable with rapid establishment

     

    Creeping Red Fescue

    • Traditional shade fine blade fescue
    • Use in areas with limited sunlight

     

    Kentucky Bluegrass

    • Beautiful Kentucky favorite for full sun
    • Needs TLC if used by itself!
    • Great seed when used in combination with other grass seeds.

     

    Perennial Ryegrass

    • Turf type
    • Excellent in full sun to light shad
    • Clubhouse rye forms a very uniform, dense turf with dark green color
    • establishes quickly

     

    Annual Ryegrass

    • Excellent winter cover crop
    • Quickly produces a cover that holds soil in place against wind and water
    • Rye’s deep roots help prevent compaction in annually tilled fields

    Sun vs. Shade

    Sunny means:

    • areas that receive mostly afternoon sun
    • 6 or more hours of good sun

    Shady means:

    • areas that receive morning sun or very little hot afternoon sun / dappled areas
    • all grass needs a little sun to grow!

    Grass Seed Coverage

    • 5 lbs overseeds about 1000 sq ft
    • 8-10 lbs covers about 1000 sq ft of bare ground
    • 8-9 lbs for 1000 sq ft for power seeding (must criss-cross)
